Longest/Shortest Pencil Activity

Launch:- Estimate how many pencils are in my tin. In groups now work out the best way to count the pencils.

Discuss Placing the item at the same point this way you can see which item is longer.

Give kids a little ball of playdough and a whiteboard. With your playdough roll it into a snake. Now join with a partner, who has the longest snake? How do you know?

Move to another partner and repeat the process.
