Measurement – Length
Warm Up – Comparing Dinosaurs
Get a number of different sized dinosaurs. Place them in an order. Can the students work out the way you have ordered them? (shortest, longest, tallest).
Learning Intention – We are learning that we can use informal units of measurement to estimate the length of objects.
Launch – Watch What is length video
We do –
Use your hand to measure the table top
Use your feet to measure the length of the classroom
Would this measurement be accurate? Why/ why not?
Looking at the dinosaurs, how can we compare and measure them? What units can we use? How do we do this?
(end to end, same units of measure, same sized)
