Discuss how we can order items from shortest to longest. Demonstrate measuring a classroom object using informal units and a ruler. Show how to record your answer.

Trace around your foot in the middle of a piece of A3 paper. Cut a strip of paper that is shorter than your foot. Cut a piece of paper that is longer than your foot. Can you put your foot and the strips of paper in order? Now measure your foot and the pieces of paper. You can choose to use informal units (blocks, sticks) or formal units (ruler/tape measure cm). Record your answer
