Have cups with marbles inside- The marble represents the 5 surprises. How many presents are inside.

Have hundreds charts or tens frames for kids to use.

Once they get the hang of that- You are the owner of a toy store. You are to draw your 5 surprises on to a shelf.

How many surprises would there be altogether?
