Intervention. Part 1. Prevention is better than cure.

Initially Dr Paul Swan will discuss common predictors that indicate students are likely to experience difficulties in number and ways of preventing or least giving them early attention so that they don’t develop into larger problems later. Later In this session Dr Paul Swan will focus on common issues that come up when teaching mathematics and look at some simple interventions to help ‘cure’ common problems. Note that many of the issues are often language based so elements of the Newman analysis will be shared to determine whether the issue is primarily a language based or a mathematics based issue.
