Shape directional language
Launch: Using 2D shapes make a pattern so that kids are unable to see. Now use positional language to describe your pattern. Kids use blocks to follow the pattern. E.g. Start with a triangle. Next to the triangle is a circle. Under the circle is a square and on top of the triangle is a hexagon. Place positional language on the board. What other words could we use to describe the pattern.

Work in partners. Designer creates a pattern of colours. Partner listens to instructions and makes the pattern. E.g Start with a blue circle. Next to the blue circle is a red triangle. Under the red triangle is a blue square.
