Letter Box Numbers – Place Value and Ordering Numbers.
Ask students to pair and share their house number. Get students to identify whether their house number is odd or even.
Have a look at the following letter boxes on slide 5. Ask students what patterns they notice. Invite students to continue the pattern for you
The Bonbeach Mayor is making new letterbox patterns.
Enabling: He would like you to label the missing numbers in the following letter boxes (slide 6)
Mid: The mayor would like you to fill in the missing numbers in the letter boxes and guess his pattern (slide 7)
Extending: The mayor does not like single digit numbers. He would like all his letter box numbers to be odd numbers. He wants them to go up in a pattern. What could his letter boxes look like? What’s the pattern? (slide 8)
