Materials

·         Game board (an AFL football field)

·         Ten-sided die

·         Counter.

How to Play

1.    Decide which player is Red (kicking towards the red goal) and which player is Blue (kicking towards the blue goal).

2.    Put the ball (a counter) in the middle of the board to start.

3.    Both players roll the die – the highest number goes first (this is like a centre bounce).

4.    The player with the ball chooses which direction to kick. There are arrows showing the options, and each one has a percentage next to it (this number shows how likely the kick is to work).

5.    Roll the die to try the kick.

a.    If the number you roll is in the “success” range, the kick works, and you move the ball to the next section.

b.    If you roll a number outside the range, the kick fails, and the other player gets the ball from that spot.

6.    Keep taking turns.

7.    If you’re in a goal square (you’ll see a box around the arrows), you can try to kick a goal.

a.    If you’re successful, you kick a goal (6 points) and the ball goes back to the middle.

b.    If you miss, it’s a behind (1 point) and the other player gets the ball.

8.    Play until the time is up (e.g., 20 minutes). The player with the highest score wins!
