‘In between’ warm up activity
‘In between’
Warm up activity
Materials needed: Pack of cards, counters.
The Queen will become a zero, take out the King, Jack, Joker and Ace.
The students play this warm up in pairs.
Have an amount of counters between the two players, that they can decide on (it could be 10 each). The cards are placed face down. The students take turns to turn over two cards and place end to end, leaving a space in between for what number could go between the two. For example, if a student picked up a 10 and an 8, there is only 1 possibility for the correct next card and that would be 9. The ‘opponent’ thinks about the odds of picking up this card (eg: the 9) in the deck. They then place a number of their own counters that they would like to take a chance on (they may choose 0 counters if they think the chance low). Then they pick up the next card and if the number correctly goes in between, they win the amount of counters from the other player that they took a chance on. Continue playing until one player is out of counters and the winner is decided.
