Measuring Foot Length – Rubric

Predict who in the grade would have the longest foot.

Draw around the outside of your foot.

Explicit teaching after they have explored the task.

 

Explore:

Assessment Task

Measure the length of your foot.

Place out different items to measure your foot (e.g. paper clips, unifix, counters etc)

Give the students time to explore measuring their foot. 

After, bring them to the floor and ask what is the best way to measure the length – talk about no gaps, same units of measurement etc.

Students have another attempt measuring their foot.

 

Extending- Who has the longest foot in the grade? Who has the shortest foot in the grade? Prove it?

Enabling- Draw a line from start to finish as to where they need to measure.
