Have You Seen My Dragon? – Steve Light
Discuss the positional language of the dragon as you read through the first few pages within the story. E.g. the dragon is above the ice cream truck and behind…
Discuss the terms: left, right, above, below, next to, between, etc. What clues can you give using this language to explain where the dragon is?
Print the slides double sided or 2 to a page.
Students look at the pictures of the dragon on each of the page. They have to think about the position of the dragon on each of the pages and write directions as to where the dragon is. Give the directions or read the directions to a buddy and have them see if they can find the dragon.
Enabling: Work with a buddy to help describe the position of the dragon on each page.
Extending: Draw your own dragon in a picture. Provide directions for somebody to find your dragon. Use more advanced positional terms.
