Chicken Scramble
Chicken Scramble: In small groups, students sit in a circle. They have one hand behind their back . Place a big pile of counters etc. in the middle. Say ‘GO’ and they have to grab counters. Then…. They need to count them.
Roam and watch how they count. By 1s? 2s? 10s? Most will count by ones and twos.
They should THINK TEN
Ask them how much they have? How can you tell? Would I get the same answer if I counted them.
Ask them to arrange their counters into 10s and 1s.
