Measurement- Habitat
Part 1: Measure Habitat Capacity
-Estimate: How much water or sand will fill your animal’s habitat container?
-Measure: Fill the container with water or sand using a measuring cup or scoop and count how many cups it takes. Record the capacity.
Part 2: Measure Habitat Length
-Use a ruler or tape to measure the length of the habitat container (e.g., how long the tray or box is). Record length in centimeters or using informal units e.g. unifix, paperclips.
Part 3: Measure Weight of Materials
-Choose materials to add inside the habitat (rocks, sticks, fabric).
-Weigh each item or group of items on the scale and record their weight.
-Add materials to the habitat and weigh the total habitat with materials. Discuss how the weight changes.
