Halves: 

Work in groups of 3. Two students hold the ends of a string. The third student clips a peg where they think halfway is.Fold the string to check.Swap roles and try with different string lengths.

Quarters

Fold the string in half.Fold it in half again to mark the quarter points.Practise estimating and checking quarters.Swap roles and strings.
