M and M fractions and Probability
Take a handful of M&M’s and sort by colour.
Write each colour as a fraction of the total.
Example (20 M&M’s):
-
5 red = 5/20 = 1/4
-
4 blue = 4/20 = 1/5
Bigger fraction = more likely
Smaller fraction = less likely
Which colour was most/least likely?
Did your results match your prediction?
Now combine the m and ms on your table and write these as a fraction of the group.
Simplify each colour e.g. 8/40 blue= 1/5
