Soccer Multiplicatio
Equipment:**
Soccer pitch game board
2 counters
Multiplication question cards (or students can create their own questions)
A small goal at each end
How to Play:
Students work in groups of three.
Two students are the players and place their counters in the centre of the soccer pitch.
The third student is the umpire and asks multiplication questions. Players may use the back of their maths books to help solve the equations.
Take turns answering a multiplication question.
If a player answers correctly, they move their counter one space forward towards their goal.
If a player answers incorrectly, they stay in the same position. Before starting, groups can decide whether an incorrect answer means the player stays still or moves back one space.
Players must make four successful moves before they can attempt a shot at goal.
Once a player reaches the shooting position, they flick their counter towards the goal.
If the counter lands in the goal, the player scores one goal.
Return the counters to the centre and continue playing.
The player with the most goals at the end of the game wins.
Swap roles regularly so everyone has a turn being the umpire.
