Magic Number

Play this game to practise a range of multiplication facts. Not suitable for students who are still learning the concept of multiplication.

    1. Place students in like ability pairs with a deck of cards
    2. Teacher calls out magic number e.g. 2
    3. Students take in turns flipping over one card at a time and multiplying the card by the magic number set.
    4. The first person to correctly call out the product keeps the card.
    5. The player with the most cards at the end of the deck wins.
    6. Teachers can call out a new magic numbers whilst students are playing to practise other multiplication facts.

En/Ext: give individual pairs/groups different magic numbers to the rest of the class e.g. give a pair a magic number of 9 whilst everyone else plays with 5.
