Place Value warm up game

Mastermind

• Draw up a place value chart that is relevant to your year level.
• Teacher picks a number and writes it down (and hides it from the students).
• Students take turns guessing what is in the thousands, hundreds, tens and ones places. E.g. “I think there is a 4 in the thousands, 3 in the hundreds, 8 in the tens and 1 in the ones place”
• For each number in the correct place, tick it. For each number that is correct but in the wrong place, circle it. For each number that is incorrect completely, cross it out.
• Continue the game until the students have worked out your number.
