Chocolate Maths (from nrich)
LI: I can solve division problems by using a variety of strategies
A fun opened ended tasks that involves sharing chocoloate! (from the nrich website).
Use this task to discuss how to share and sort a collection evenly.
If one table has one block, another table has two blocks, and a third table has three blocks, which table would you get the most chocolate from?
One by one, students choose a table and discuss why they would get the most chocoalte at that table. After all students are at a table, reflect on the early decisions- did I make the right choice on which table to go to? Why or why not?
Extension: add more chocolate to the table group- how does this change the equation?
