Letters in a Name Subitising

Demonstrate how to count the number of letters in a person’s name.

Have the children work out how many letters are in each person’s name in the class?

You will need to record the digit plus symbols. e.g. use dots, tally marks etc

Does anyone in the grade have the same number of letters as their age?

Place the number of letters on to a tens frame (laminated) or use counters.
