Chicken Feed

Place a whole lot of unifix on the floor. Ask children to gather a collection.

Now work out the best way to collect your feed. Ask kids how they counted their feed. What might be some strategies to count our feed? e.g. Placing in a line, placing in groups etc. Kids might be even able to count by 2’s.

Discuss how can we count the feed so that no items are missed.
