Ask students qhat numbers might go into the gaps?

Can they think of more than one solution?

How many patterns can you create that have an 8 in them?

**the eight does not have to be in this middle position

Enabling: single step patterns, provide with a 100’s chart, skip counting. Add an extra number into the pattern. 

Extension: multiplication, division, more than one function.
